Past Events

NSConference 2009 - "Integrating with the Mac OS X Photography Ecosystem".

I spoke at the first NSConference on the topic of integrating Mac OS X applications with the existing photography ecosystem on the Mac. The talk covered Apple's photography applications and the major photo-related APIs on the OS.

C4[3] Blitz Talk - "Finding the Time"

I delivered a blitz talk at C4[3] about finding the time to do your indie Mac developer thing.

Stirling and District Camera Club - Digital Photography Workflow.

A slightly unusual venue for me, but one I really enjoyed. I gave two talks to the Stirling and District Camera Club which, I believe, were quite well received. The first talk covered my philosophy of capturing and organising photographs in a digital system in a way that will scale over time to huge numbers of images. The second talk was an introductory talk on Flickr as may in the audience were unfamiliar with Flickr.

Voices That Matter iPhone 2009 - "Cameras and Photos"

I travelled to Boston to give a presentation at the Voices That Matter iPhone conference on using the iPhone's camera in your applications. The feedback was pretty positive:

  • "Spectacular talk, spectacular speaker. Clearly knew the subject inside and out" - Michael T. Smith
  • "Fantastic talk - did an excellent job at presenting issues we really need to know when working with the camera/video potential gotchas" - Lisa Nevin
  • "Fabulous talk, great use of images on the slides." - Graham Ballantyne
  • "This talk was worth staying for. Good content, excellent presentation. Would use this as a template for my own Keynote work in the future!" - Stephen Ryner, Jr.
  • "AWESOME TALK , I loved it." - RS
  • "Great talk, really informative and interesting." - Matt Martel
  • "This was an amazing presentation. Thank you for providing a thoughtful - but entertaining - perspective on incorporating the camera into apps!" - Robert Brennan
