'Twas the Night Before Macworld
Monday, January 14, 2008 at 9:19AM
Let me just say it: I have no idea what Apple will announce tomorrow. I don't even have the necessary imagination to envisage what they might do. John Gruber's pre-Macworld piece makes an interesting observation: that there's little consensus around what's expected.
Personally, I'm deeply sceptical of the subnotebook rumours. If there's one thing that Apple has diligently avoided in the last decade, it's having a customer go into a store and be unsure which model will suit their needs. I think that selling a subnotebook alongside the 13" MacBook will seriously muddy that corner of the product matrix, unless it's a radically different product.
And by "radically different" I basically mean "runs on the iPhone platform".
